But not now. Not right away! I can partly understand some of the musicians' interest in wanting to experiment in acting. But acting is a craft-an art form just like music or other forms of entertainment.It's not "SOMETHING" everybody can do on the fly!" Not everybody are natural talents at the craft of acting! Some of the actors/actresses that took classes don't always pull it off to everybody's liking! Some of these people actually could use-no, DO need some/more acting classes like Myra Panache recommends before they designate themselves the next Denzel.Sorry! Isn't being British a de facto requirement in order to get the James Bond role? I don't see an American of any race getting that part. The Brits would cry foul big time.

I keep saying this over and over again. Americans need to realize that the James Bond franchise, is mcuh greater than the US market, and it is as Brisith as Big Ben, The River Thames, and Sheperdsbush market. Also, most of the fans of James Bond, not american. I'm positive that there are tons of highly trained black British actors who would act the hell out of this role, and I hope and think that they will use one of their own.

If Thandie Newton can be cast to play Condolezza Rice then likewise an American can be cast to play a British character. Bottom line in this day and age we are talking about new possibilites, the time for what was is gone. All of the presidents in the past were white men, now we have Obama!
As far as talking about the Bond franchise being worldwide, American Actors can and do posess worldwide appeal. Denzel, Will Smith, Tom Cruise and many other Actors are known, respected and celebrated throughout the WORLD. Just like any change, there will be people for it and people against it. Since the topic of having a Black Bond was opened, people gave opinions who they felt could embody the role, that is all.

Thandie Newton playing Condoleezza Rice is no big deal. However, an American playing James Bond - even acting with a British accent - will cause a major uproar. James Bond is a big and longtime franchise, and well wrapped up in British identity.
An American will not be selected for this role, so Diddy et al can hang it up. MAYBE a black British actor can snag the role, but I doubt even that will happen anytime soon because there is no black British actor with the box office track record to pull it off.

The very Gorgeous Colin Salmon was considered as the first black Bond..
(Pierce Brosnan let slip the producers were considering Colin way back in 04) AND he got the thumbs up from the British public too...
In the end though they him as MI6 Chief of Staff, CHARLES ROBINSON instead.

As a naturalized American, with family on both sides of the pond, I tend to see things as an American, but also as an immigrant. All I will say is that the James Bond franchise is one thing that the British take pride in being wholly theirs. I don't doubt the ability or worldwide/box office capability of Will, or Denzel, trust me. Britons can no longer claim ownership of golf, and tennis lolol BUT they will fight tooth and nail to keep Bond in the United Kingdom...just my opinion. I love the fact that we can agree to disagree.

Just to add to the discussion; Americans can and do work for international agencies and on the flipside there are Agents of all nationalities/ethnicities working for the USA. It seems that some people take issue with an American playing Bond as if an accent can not be produced for a character. We are all making suggestions and in no way are we casting the role or calling the shots. I think it is very limiting to say that a character must stick to an old script when the world is changing so much. It is sad that we are still having "first African American Achievements" in this millenium. I am off my soapbox and stepping away from this Bond discussion. Toodles...

I agree with you. There are definitely plenty of non-American actors and actresses who are cast in roles as Americans all the time. I'm sure the writers for the Bond series could set up the story in a multitude of ways to make whoever they might cast fit. When I first started reading the comments I saw that someone suggested Jeffery Wright. I didn't think they could use him because he was in Casino Royale as a CIA agent, but then I thought about it. As far as I know there's nothing that says he can go work for another country or for that matter he could be a double agent. I'm still rooting for Chiwetel. Also, Sean Connery is Scottish and while Scotland is part of the United Kingdom it doesn't make him British.

* That $750,000 would have been best spent by paying the numerous artists that you have ripped off.

James Bond the CHARACTER is suppose to be an older man all the people mentioned are too young to play him.IMO either Denzal or Samuel L Jackson but denzal is more handsome so it will be better suited for him even though imo samauel is the better actor.But Jamie Foxx is most likely 2 get the part since he has been the most succesfull out of everyone and has the acting capability to pull it off.

If Diddy ever a million years get that part, he would be the first time James Bond to weat sunglasses all through the movie. I think that James Bond is the equivalent to a British "super-hero". So it's probably not likely to have an American play him which is fine just like Americans aren't likely to have a British person play an American superhero (especially with a British accent)although Hugh Jackman played "Wolverine" (but he probably didn't have his Australian accent.) But it's not impossible for an American to play him (maybe with a British accent or not).
I didn't know Eartha Kitt was so respected back in the day, she seems real classy.

Puffy USED TO BE a decent producer (Biggie, 112, Jodeci, Lil Kim, Mase and many others). Even if he wasn't the master sound engineer, he DID know how to bring talent together and pop out hits.
Now, he is tying to make so much money in so many areas he's not GREAT at anything just somewhere between a'ight and piss poor pitiful. He utilized his name/status to promote these other things but they are businesses he doesn't know and apparently the ppl running them don't know either.

Bey has received a lot of critizsm for not reaching out to JHud. I didn't know they were friends. As far as I knew, they were costars ONLY! Beyonce has had MANY costars over the years & will have many more. These people are not friends just costars. I have had many coworkers over the years. When I hear about tragic events in their life I just pray for them. Jamie Fox said on tv that he had not spoke to Jhud either but no one is saying anything about that. From Jhud interviews after Dreamgirls came out, she implied Jamie was her closest friend on the set. She often spoke on how Jamie called her weekly before the movie came out to prepare her for the journey to super stardom that she was in for.

Yeah, there are times in your life that you find out who your true friends are. Jhud is new to the biz & probably naively thought Bey was her friend. In that industry, true friends are so rare. It's on the way down that celebs find out who was they can really count on. If you really think about the celebs with careers that expand decades, they were not known for having large entourages. Their true friends were not costars but people outside the business. JHud is young & will learn. No one really knows who sent flowers and cards.

It's very well known that Whitney & Eddie dated. She joked about it on Being Bobby Brown. It was always said that Whitney was not light enough for him or her career was too big. With many of Eddie'e friends noting over the years that Eddie does not drink or do any drugs, my guess would be they were total opposites. Despite what people think, Whitney was using powder cocaine waaaay before she met Bobby. We didn't have TMZ in the 80's so that girl next door image that Clive Davis put out was all we saw.

I really enjoy the reading the information that is published on this site. It has become my favorite by far, and I have told MANY people about it. I spend hours at a time on here. I really enjoy reading the about the stories that should have made national news, but never did. For instance, when the story concerning the police officers beating up the transexual in Memphis hit the news, I heard about it everywhere. However, there was little coverage about the fact that this person was found dead weeks later, even in local news. Thanks for publishing these stories, because many of these I would have never known if I had not found your site. Also, while I do not think that Akon should be the black James Bond, I question his choice in thinking Nicole would be the perfect sidekick because she is Hawaiian. She is a pretty girl, but why does a woman ALWAYS have to be something other than African-American to be considered beautiful? Why lets not make history with the first black James Bond who partners with a gorgeous black woman? After all, we HAVE been the ones who have always stood by our men, even when no one else has believed in them. Shoots..often times when they have not believed in themselves. We are ALSO the epitome of beauty and we can play other roles besides the typical stereotypes! Keep up the great work!

Thanks so much for putting light on the unexplained disdain African Americans have for Eartha Kitt. I am huuuge Kitt fan and have noticed whenever I catch her at the Carlyle very few people of color are in the audience. It also came as a surprise to me when Oprah had her Legend's ball, Kitt was noticeably absent with no explanation from Winfrey as to why? Thank you again oh and as an aside:
Speaking of FAKE COUPLES (Rihanna& Chris/Mimi & Nick) I was at Tina Turner's FABULOUS concert in NYC on Monday when seated behind me were none other than Tom & Katie. Talk about FAKE. They showed no affection for the 2+hours they were there, not to mention Tom can't dance to save his life, boy has NO rhythm lol

I absolutely love Phillippe Wynne's vocals and scatting on "Not just knee deep." I keep the long version of that song on heavy rotation. Earlier this year, when I was listening to the song, my husband mentioned matter-of-factly that he was the guy from the Spinners.

I have to agree with you Tigress... It's hard for me to swallow the same chick who does a Dish Network commercial uttering the phrase "Lemme upgrade jou" as opposed to "Let me upgrade you", as coming off as anything other than a bad attempt.

Preach BigWin. . .I hit mute everytime I see the Dish Network or L'oreal commercials come on. My ears bleed when I hear Beyonce attempt to speak adult english. But in her defense, I will say this. SHE GET IT FROM HER MAMA!! Have you heard TT speak? (Not Tina Turner, The Tacky Tina that is Knowles). Solange is not QUITE as bad but the whole family needs an Intervention!! They could all benefit by spending a little money and a few hours in speech therapy. Kelly R. grew up with them and she's pretty articulate. Wonder how that happened. Hmmm. . .

I had the opportunity to see Tina this year when she came to Sacramento in October. It's a damn shame that I did not go because I heard she puts on a helluva show! I wanted to go w/Mom who wanted to go with her BF - who had 0 interest in 'seeing a 75 y/o woman dance on stage' (his words, not mine) I heard she still has it. Silly me for listening to his dumb*ss.

Oh Beyonce! I was watching the trailer for Cadillac Records - such great actors - Jeff Wright, A Brody, Mos Def, etc and then Bey. I personally don't think she should have touched 'At Last'. Her wigs in the movie are pure comedy. She doesn't look anything close to Etta - couldn't she invest in some makeup to disguise herself? She looks like Bey in a short wig! All in all, I still may go to see it just to support the real actors.

I agree with you on the Cadillac Records run... Jeffery Wright has to be one of the most underrated actors on film today, and had it not been for his scene stealing roles in Casino Royale and Quantum Solace, he would be a great candidate for the next Bond, or should I say the first Black Bond. So for J.W., Mos Def, Cedric The Entertainer,Gabrielle Union and others included in the film, I'll go see Cadillac Records... Because struggling Black Actors need my support more than some ditsy chick with nice boobs.

TT always puts on a helluva a show from what I heard. I think Tina is turning 69 if she's not already.
Pretty she is but maybe Tyra has a bad attitude is the reason she can't keep a man. She might be pretty to look at, has money two shows but with all that that's what causes her to not keep a man. She might be one of those persons who just have TO HAVE IT HER WAY and not too many people want to be around or with someone who has to always be in charge.
I think Beyonce should step away from always having to sing in whatever movie she's in. I think all the movies she's ever been in she sings and if she wants to get this Oscar she's Jonesing for she should accept a role that shows that she can act JUST act cause we know she can sing and dance.
She wants to do Wonder Woman okay then do that and lets see what she's got I don't recall Wonder Woman singing when she'd chase the bad guys lasso them and fly that invisible plane.

I agree. . .Will Balfour being the murderer doesn't add up. According to his mother - he had not two, but THREE girfriends and was supposedly with with one, Diane, the night before the murders and another, Kate, the morning OF the murders. I truly believe the murder had something to do with Jason Hudson's lifestyle. My condolences out to the family but I think Jody Weis and the CPD got it wrong this time. They need to be continuing this investigation.

I love, love, LOVE the Unit. I think that it is the most underrated TV show that is on now. I really love that they show the AA family in a really good light. They are the leaders of the other families. Please don't sleep on this show. Dennis Haysbert is the Executive Producer.
