Hi Myra, I love your website, but don't care much for the logo (sorry!). I agree with some of the other comments that too much is going on in the picture and that it should be classy and professional like PR.
I like the ideas of "world" and "global" and that PR is looking at the world. What about a globe with the words "Panache Report" circling the globe 2 or 3 times? or a map of the world showing, "Panache Report" stated in different languages in different parts of the world? Just my 2 cents...
Of course I will wear your shirt proudly with whatever logo you decide, but wanted to send my 2 cents for free because I enjoy your site so much. Reply to this

Another option, in my opinion, is the logo you have on the front page in the upper left-hand corner...just as it appears there. Brand recognition there because the logo will be seen on products, and when curious people who see us wearing it go to the site, they will see the logo at the top corner.

I know a couple of nurses who passed his medication to him in the county lockup after he was apprehended, they said he seemed like an ordinary guy. The 16 year old victim was a student at the school my cousin taught at. He was one of her students. Finally, right before he was arrested, he showed up at my bff sister home wanting her son to let him in, claiming the police was after him and he didn't know why. Thank God they had a screen in porch and he was wise enough to not let him in. As soon as he left, he was placed under arrest. This is a small community and because of his actions numerous people, and many families were hurt. Under his prison profile its blank as regards to his possible parole date. Hi, Myra. I agree totally with Sharon above (10/1/2008 – 10:48pm). Having experience in this field and journalism, the current logo feels more “authentic”. In the new logo, the curved letter HAVE to go. As Sharon said, it’s essentially unreadable from a distance and at a quick glance. Plus, (to use an old phrase) “it looks “hokey” and the satellite is too “literal” and “in your face”. Almost a little “grandiose” – ie., too heavy on the “cosmos”. (We’re not all UFO buffs. . . Yet.) . . . I’m being blunt honest with you because I know that’s what you want and why you asked for readers’ opinions. If – within your mind or spirit – there is something missing in this logo or doesn’t feel right, it probably is. . . Lean towards the advise of all the negative comments and put your breaks on for the new concept (like Fred Flinstone). (One phrase every journalist learns is K.I.S.S.) . . . . . Now, . . still agreeing with Sharon the original design has some great merits – especially the black, blue, and light blue color scheme. (It ain’t broke; so, don’t fix it.) . . . What would be fascinating to see is an entirely black (long-sleeved) T-shirt (as in Black news, hint) with the actual “earth diagram” from the original logo “plastered” over the entire shirt. The words “Panache Report” in somewhat bigger metallic gold letters along the bottom of the shirt-tail or even around the color of the neck (“panachereport.com” in smaller metallic gold letters, maybe). Some baseball T-shirts with high-necks have this concept. Also, place the words “Panache Report” and “panache report.com” in bigger metallic gold letters on the back. Keep the mystery – especially the “curiosity” – alive in the design. . . In other words, when you think of concepts and ideas to incorporate into your new logo, think CNN or Pentagon. They never go over board – always tasteful and hitting their target, ie., (their reader demographic.) . . Now, for the final TOUCH. . . Tell me what you think! . . How about a female’s long convacious leg going across the shirt – in the lower bottom, maybe. Like in one of them James Bond films. And for added detail, (maybe) (maybe) wearing some fishnet stockings. Or insert it as a smaller logo – in yellow or an actual color imprint of a female leg. (Black, of course). That leg represents YOU and the fact that you’re “doing the damn thang”. It also reflects on the off the edge and racy features you publish and commentary that goes on daily. (Eg., beards, sex trade, mafia, etc.) . . Hope this helps you. Reply to this

When I hear stories like this, I wish I had some extra money so that I could help this woman start a new life some place way away and erase as much of her past as possible so that it would be hard to track her down. Funderburk apparently sent the e-mail from his business account at Gastonia Sheet Metal where he works as a business agent. When asked if he believed Obama was the antichrist, Funderburk replied, “I’ve got absolutely no way of knowing that.”
Fort Mill needs a new Mayor.

I really wonder who this Russell incarnate is. Talk about issues! I think there has to be an underlying cause for the hatred of black people and distaste for black women in particular, perhaps mental defect?
Reply to this
I can say this much. After Myra met him, she was appalled, she thought she was in the presence of a bigot with his hateful comments and excused herself from the surrounding because she was on the verge of going off. She said, when he wasn't putting black women down with some of the most vile insults you've ever heard, he would complain, although he has educational degrees, whites at his job discriminate against him and second guess him, every chance they get but these are the same people he wants to be like. The same ones he complains about.
I caught a glimpse of him. He has major, major issues. The last I heard about him, he cursed his mother out in front of relatives and had her crying and everyone who knows them say she is a really sweet lady and it baffles her why her son has always disliked her, even hated her. No history of child or mental abuse, his siblings say he was treated well by both parents in childhood but hated their mother from an early age.
This guy is so bad, I later heard that he went to his friend's parents house, both parents are black, the father was gone and he asked his friend's mother, who did you have to fuck to get this type of house?
The friend attacked him and threw him out for disrespecting his mother, they no longer speak. It's surprising he has any black friends who are married to black women, have black female relatives or black mothers.
A real case study.

This is truly another one of those disturbing and tragic stories added to the archives of life. Its a shame there were not enough resourses available to assist this family with the help they so obviously needed, it makes you want to cry to know how tragically unfortunate some peoples' live are, and then say or complain about what it is that you have/did not have as an individual.I love my parents for the life they have given me and my sisters and brothers, no matter how much I could not do some of the what I called "fun" things in life. My father never disrespected my mom to any level like that.I could not even phathom having an existence like that, but nonetheless these types of families exist, I have no idea what it is to grow up with so much hatred that you are in complete and utter denial of who you are as a man/woman.and then want to have children, thank god he didn't!! My heart and prayers go out to those unsuspecting victims of his and their familes...maybe his story, will help someone else, and I am sure somewhere out in this world there is a crisis going on with similar connotations and god willing they will seek the assistance they so desperately need.

Great front page as usual. I googled George Russell and I see that he did a lot more than just kill and rape these women. He was/is so sick that it literally scared me to think that there might be someone else out there like him. I really don't understand how we can hate ourselves. We have so much to be proud of and we are so fascinating that people try to emulate US! I really can't comprehend the need to impress the "mainstream"

When I was a little girl living in MS the first few yrs of my life. I went to school with blacks /whites, this was in the early 70's and a few white girls in my classes were in girl scouts. On Fridays they'd wear those cute little brown outfits they were called "brownies" LOL(ironic when you think about it
And that is the ONLY single time in my life I wanted to be white the ONLY time. It wasn't because I didn't like being black it was because I thought if I was white I could be a girl scout wear the cute little outfit,go on those outings and have fun then come back to school on Monday to talk about it to the other kids.
That fool on the front page he needs some serious SHOCK therapy. He's no better then a racist white man or the klan.
He's a DAMN! fool cause he's living in a glasshouse. If he lived in a few certain states him being married to a white woman he'd be a walking target.
I love being black, I take pride in being black and if anyone dislikes me because I'm black be they white or black themself then thats on them it's they're problem.

Hello Auntie Hidoll! It's funny that you mentioned the Brownies. I was a Brownie for all of three weeks. I dropped out because I didn't like the Brown and Orange uniforms! lmao My mother was mad as hell because she took me to JC Penney to try on the uniforms and I didn't like them, but didn't tell her until I had already worn it.
In all seriousness, this was when I was in Catholic school and one of 3 black girls in my grade. I was the only black Brownie and couldn't stand most of the girls in my troop. After our first outing as a group, I decided to quit because I couldn't handle that much togetherness with girls I didn't like. I was already in drama club, Junior Marions, and just about any other extra curricular activity a six year old could join, so I didn't need the Brownies.

LOL, 3 wks Sin?I think I would have been mad at yr too. LOL why couldn't u tell her before they ranged up the cost of the uniform?
I forgot to mention that I did get to sell girl scout cookies at it wasn't until after I became grown. I sold them for a friend of mine little girl. I sold $150.00 for her so I chalked that up as being a brown scout for one day.
So did u want to be a brownie or was your mom's idea?

When I worked as a Psychiatric Nurse here in Michigan,I had a patient that also HATED Afican Americans. He would write to the different rascist groups asking for membership.Mind you he was/is a black man.Very dark complexion.
He would never speak to me or other staff members who were black, just glare.
This guy is truly menacing to say the least. He stands over 6'4 and weighs in excess of 300lbs of pure muscle not an ounce of fat on his body. There was once a help needed(call made when there is a physical altercation or possible violence on the floor)when additional staff responded he was literally throwing staff across the room,& these were MEN.It took several (almost a gang to subdue him).I'll never forget that sight. When we closed I beleve they sent him upstate, and I think he's now free.

I had a good friend (white) who married a Jamacian man who does not like Black women, especially American Black women. He openly said the only reason I was allowed to visit their home was because I was a friend of his wifes, and not only that, after being around me for a day or so sat down and asked me was I from Europe etc. because I spoke so "well" and had manners, and even knew enough to hold a conversation. Ugg. And also had a co-worker not too long ago that was Uncle Ruckus come to life. Would fetch our white boss his lunch every day (gave himself the title Lunch Co-Ordinator...not kidding) and would set it out for him with a straw in his drink and his paper open to his fav section every day. Spoke just like a step n fetchit. If he overheard white co-workers commenting on an eatery or a TV show, he would immediatly so see or look it up, and then make up a story about how he and his friends from Harvard (never been to college a day in his life, chronic liar) have been there before, saw this etc. Refused to be seen speaking with blacks unless they were new and he could talk down to them before they knew any better. Crazy's are everywhere.

I was raised is a predominately white area myself, however I am just the opposite. I have a strong love for my people, and am going to have work on my dislike for white people. Specifically white women. I think that if my son brought one home, I would literally loose it! A lot of my hatred towards whites have to do with them calling me "niggers" and Aunt Jamima's when I was growing up.
Reply to this
I too was raised in a predominately white area and I've always loved my blackness. the thing that bothers me, as the areas started becoming more diverse, the black folks don't want to talk to you. It's like, we moved here to get away from your type, and that's really sad and very irritating....
Color struck fools - they don't know that their trying to rub all the white shoulders might have them looking really stupid and I have seen it happen

Well my sister have me disliking white people everyday!! Mind you she's black married to a white man because she thought life would be better on the other side and did not want to have nappy headed children as she put it mind you.
We were having a conversation one day and mind you this women said and i quote if i her sister ended up marrying a white man and he beat me up that i should just accept it because it it what it is. She wants the rest of us her siblings to only marry white or other but no one black, but white definitely on top of her list.
She's always putting black American people down calling them drug dealers etc, and saying that white people make sure their kids go to school and become something unlike the black community. We'll we finally had it out and i called her to her face what i think she is a racist. My dad joked if it wasn't for the fact that she's my sister his daughter he thought she should have been in the KKK.

I am just going to say that I don't see a woman of any race giving him the time of day. So since he has to spend the rest of his pathetic life in prison, he can be the house ni**er for some white supremist in jail.

Reading this front page story about the men that hate anything associated with black, it really make me sad and angry. I have been trying to figure out for the longest time why some people have such a self hatred. I often wonder why blacks are always consider the bottom rung of society. And like someone mentioned I think it is envy in some way on white people's part. A lot of people don't realize that Africa was the center of the world as far as wealth, resources, and new ideas of the time. And when Africa, was on top a lot people were going there to take the ideas. You had the Egyptians doing brain surgery before anyone else. There were the Nubians who had large gold reserves and large amounts of wealth. A lot of this you will not find in the mainstream history classes and we as parents have to teach our kids about this history. I always thought that is one thing people do not stress to their kids is history. It really build a strong sense of character and self. I think it is as important as math and science. When I learned the history of different things it made me feel good about where my ancestor came from. One day, I would like to get one of those DNA test to see where my lineage is from. My whole point is we have to give our children something to be proud of because there are some great stories out there about blacks (African and American).

Awwwww Dammmmm, heres where the ish gets slick, and make my a** hurt, and I thought this was going to be a nice Wednesday morning ...1)Why was Condeleeza not the first choice? I am definitely not for McCain, by any means necessary, but THIS woman is what one would classify as a "running mate" in comparison to a Ms. Palin, or is this the way that this campaign was supposed to play itself out,one strong black woman against an equally strong black man after the McCain team has Ms. Palin(not using my word of choice) "meltdown". I simply, never never, ever saw her as qualified for this, especially , but WHATEVER!! Now I really will be paying much more attention to this!!(Not that I'm not already) I see desperation rears its ugly head yet again, now the bullsh** will be Condeleeza's experience vs. Obama....

Does Sappington have any family history of schizophrenia? The disease starts manifesting in the late teen/early twenties, and hallucinations are a major symptom of the disease.

Well I too have a strong dislike. I have not come into contact with any that I can trust. Now I do associate with those that are not 100%. Not to offend (Jew,Asian,Latino etc.)
I also hate self hating blacks. I work with people who thing just because you are white and have education you are smart. The thing that they don't know is that it takes more for a black person to survive so they tend to have more common sense. If you add the education factor into play, you may encounter one of the most intelligent people on the planet.
I appreciate this site becuase there are intelligent black people here.

Re T-Shirt Design:
I like the design itself, as it gives that worldwide vibe. I think either you should change the font design or placement or the size of the satellite, as they seem to be "competing" for attention. I'd change up the font color and move it underneath the satellite over the earth.
Coca Cola: I know very very few black people that aren't pratically addicted to Coca Cola. I know folks that keep 12 packs in their car trunk while they are driving somewhere just in case they get that taste. Glad to see they hired Big Boi however, it sounds like a good fit.
As for the black serial killer,he is a shining example why besides weight, mental health issues need to be a priority in black communities. More and more we are seeing men and women snapping all over the damn place and hurting innocent babies man and women. Sometimes these people are showing signs of mental illness but its getting written off. And yes, I understand most black people don't believe in going to a "head doctor". Well... get over it and put the pride aside. There are even doctors who specialize in Black Psychology. We need to get familiar because I think mental health should be right up there with obesity and heart disease in everyones top 5.

*I PanacheReport.com
*"The Real Thing"-Front of shirt, "PanacheReport.com" on back.

I like the Logo. As long as the words "Panache Report" are crystal-clear so that folks can see.
Another option, in my opinion, is the logo you have on the front page in the upper left-hand corner...just as it appears there. Brand recognition there because the logo will be seen on products, and when curious people who see us wearing it go to the site, they will see the logo at the top corner.
Another idea...baby tee's for the girly-girls would be great, too!

Hey Myra! I kind of get the idea for the first logo with the satelite (being that you have eyes and ears everywhere) but I don't know if I would want to wear the shirt with the design. The second logo is what i would want to wear on a t-shirt because it would spark more interest people that haven't been to your site yet. Bottom line either way you want to go with this I still want my PR gear and will wear it with pride.

Wonderful Job Myra for posting this story. As for as Marc Sappington, I remember all to well when this took place in our city. I know some of his relatives (aunts & cousins). He's not ever getting out.

Alla "Nazzy" was out there. The power of Legacy and Traditions are true. History really does repeat itself. Some people actually believe that the past has no influence on today. I beg to differ. It's so obvious that Alla background, her belief system and values played a significant role in what she did in her life. The past continues to live on and its past influences the present. Welcome to today's Hollywood. It's a an exact replica of yesteryear.

Reply to this
Make that a "pair of legs" (shifted to the side of the T-shirt -- full-length, possibly on the back).

RE: T-Shirt Logo
Considering how I feel about PR - any t-shirt YOU choose to put out for us to wear, I'm buying - plain and simple. I know you asked for feedback, and I know you appreciate all insight, but if I may, I would like the t-shirt to be a reflection of what/how YOU see PR because it would be a reflection of just that, you. Remember what you just said to me about your articles that were so edited you didn't recognize them? Well...... Again, I know you asked for feedback, and not trying to minimize anybody else's style or preference, but if you had just put the shirt out there and sold it without feedback - it would still be loved and bought just the same. If you like it - I love it..... I just want a shirt. Keep doing Myra - t-shirts and all. JMO..

Very disturbing. But the number of Black serial killers is underestimated. The FBI estimated that at "any give time" there are approx. 250 serial killers (of all races) "roaming the country." As for Black serial killers, estimates run from 35-50...a high number given population figures. There are more white serial killers, but the bottomline is that some very crazy people are out there and we shouldn't let our guards down thinking that's what "they" do.
African-American Serial Killers

Thanks Galaxcy for posting this list of some of the most prolific black serial killers in America's history. Terry Blair was another one that had Kansas City in an uproar. A friend and I saw one of his victims when she was still alive. She had been prostituting on prospect street and the police had her handcuffed. Both of us saw her picture in the paper as one of the prostitutes that had been found murder. I can't help but to wonder would she have still been alive if she had actually been taken into custody. I guess he gave her a "talking to" and then released her.

Hi Myra, staff and all of our friends,
I love the idea of having t-shirts printed, its a great marketing strategy. However, I think the prototype layout is a bit crowded. There are too many graphics in one. Perhaps, use the logo that you use now with the silhouette of the female spy and the name, with the web address under it, or simple text such as P.R. Addict with the web address underneath it. This would add mystery and draw others to the site. Just my opinion, which is only worth two cents. But any shirt will be well received by the members.

I don't like the design of the t-shirt, but I do like the design concept.

Hi Myra,
I like the concept for the tshirt, particularly the satellite looking upon the Earth. I think it gives a subtle yet real message. At first I was not sure about the color of "Panache Report" on the logo but after further review, I think the faintness of the color lends to a message of "PR is here whether you see us or not".
