Let me clear this up most people who are diagnosed with a mental illness will take their medications for a short period of time and when the sympthoms cease they mistakenly believe that they "are better" and stop taking the meds then you get those who self medicate (street drugs) and usually do not get back on meds until they have a complete breakdown. Lauryn Hill didn't write most of her songs.... there are pending law suits against her so I think she is fronting to everyone so they declare insane and she doens't have to pay that big money out to the folks that really wrote her stuff. Can't sue someone for money if they aint gettin any..... Pretty much Lauryn isn't a dumb person she knows the law suits are on their way and that she will again be in the midst of financial issues after all the stuff gets exposed. She basically picked her poison and probably would rather be a strange crazy person now then be successful again and have to give up all the new money she earns to pay back to the team of writers she had. Maybe that last line about Lauryn was directed at me since I typed "X Factor" but for clarity just in case it was, I wasn't speaking about the song. I was speaking about Lauryn Hill in general being the X Factor in the industry because she was totally different from every female that was out during her time. Her hair (locs), her skin (dark), her sound (raspy, laid back), her dress (not flashy, very modest), and the positive, uplifting material she sang about. So I wasn't referencing that particular song but her overall package.

dont know much about being bi polar or knowing if can develop at the age she is.... she was never like she is now. and if she is not on drugs and never ever showed any signs like this.... clef and everyone that was around her vouched that she is allof a sudden off the deep end in everything.
that is why i say it is an act of desperation on her behalf. she is liable to return funds back to those who wrote the songs for her. however, if there is no more money or assets to liquidate.... and if she is declared "disabled" she won't be getting money like before.... and how can she return the writers the money she saw from royalty checks if she even got the royalty checks.... maybe mayra or staff can look into how shady the music business has been over the last 15 years... poor artists get robbed of their publishing and royalty money. so many artists are broke unless they get endorsement monies and "extra" types of work..... its really sad. my friend told me that i made more money than most artists and i had a 9-5 m-f day job.

Heard on a radio interview with either Harvey or Dr. Ian from CFC that Ms. Bledsoe really does have a nasty disposition due to some trials she was going through at home. Her purported man was that actor Ron from A Different World, Dwayne Wayne's roommate. Then everybody during the interview started bringing up rumors that "Ron" was recently deceased and the interview got crazy from there. Either Harvey or Doc Ian stated that he was alive and that's who Tempest's man was and they were having difficulties.
I also heard them loud and clear when they said she was moody and difficult to work with -- but hey depravation of food and trying to diet will do that to anybody!!

I know Elan and use to model with her. Nice girl. I have seen her and Myra a few times in her sports car on Muholland Dr. and a few other places. Elan also dated Prince and Eddie was trying to get at her and Ginuwine was trying to get at her at one time, also R. Kelly but nothing ever came of it. Elan has dated celebrities but she has a good girl rep of never sleeping around and she seems to have a spell over some of these men, some of them were not the same after the break up.

I can honestly say without hesitating, Elan looks better than Halle Berry in person. I am a photog and have seen both women out in L.A. Like Halle, Elan's beauty is natural, no weave, according to my stylist friend and no cosmetic surgery. To me, they are the two most beautiful AA women in L.A.

Halle has had cosmetic surgery...On her Nose and all over her teeth. Granted she was attractive b4 and is so now but the truth is the truth.
Don't know about Elan and I grant her props as well from the photos I have seen. But it is extremely rare for any woman/male to arrive in Hwood and not receive a tweak here or a tweak there. Coming from a model who was told all her life.."so pretty, you should model..blah blah blah and then you get in LA and you hear "lets just consider, thinning the bridge, lets get veneers, lets do a laser peel. I kept the nose I was born with as well as my breats. I still work and Thank God I have business sense and a degree to fall back on.

No one was saying she wasn't but quiet as it is kept most everyone who tries to make it in Hwood gets some type of plastic surgery and yes dental work is considered plastic/cosmetic surgery.
Nose jobs first, veneers second,laser
skin treatment and then comes either breast implants or a breast lift. We have a saying "let me get my Halle on" it is a compliment to her surgeon for keeping it so natural most people dnt notice it. Beyonce did this for her 1st nose job but her 2nd nose job is not a Halle. Please be sure to check her new nose now, much too pointy for her face. I watched CFC & Ms. Bledsoe was acting a bit standoffish. They even setup for her to go to a laugh class b/c the whole time she was there she never smiled. It was like she was in a mood all the time or didn't want to be there. Harvey gave her his personal workout tapes she promised him she'd take with her and used it but she left it on the chair as they all went out to go the weigh in scale.
Yes I notice she looked unhappy and I figure it may have been something more then weight gain.
This is the first I heard about Lauryn Hill having mental & financial problems. (God Bless her)
It's ashame that so many celebrities are blessed to have the fame they have then they end up having problems to the point of mental illness. Now having financial issues they might can come back from that by getting gigs to cover whatever they did to cover. But mental illness is a hard one to come back from because after they have gotten the help they need to recover people still look at and treat them different like they think he or she is gonna explosed like a time bomb.

Wow, I was at a party several years ago and Tempestt was there, she was a teenager and she was very standoffish and in my opiniion snotty then.
I found her attitude and demanor to be really strange especially because we were at a birthday party for one of her Cosby Show castmates and she acted like wished she was anyplace else but there, but she didn't leave. She just stood around avoiding all eye contact looking in the opposite direction as if someone was staring at her.
I chalked it up to her being young and caught up in the fame.
Now from what I'm reading she never changed... How unfortunate.

Yes I think she's in her 30's I say whenever a person has the kind of disposition is b/c they're just not happy people or they just was never taught how to talk too or treat people. Even when something is going good for them they still have the same old rude disposition.

Hidoll, there was an E true hollywood story on the Cosby Show. I remember the actor who played Denise's husband said that Tempest was very moody on the set. One minute shes speaking then the next she act like if he wasn't even there. I remember that because I was so surprise to hear that. Also she had a talk show back in 94/95. I don't think it last but one season.

Greetings one and all... I've been reading the posts and re-reading them, and although Lark Voorhees seems like a leading contender, Hidoll mentioned Theresa Randall earlier, and I'm kind of leaning toward her. She was on the brink of breaking out; she was the lead actress in Spike Lee's "Girl 6," and then kind of disappeared from the circuit. Earlier this year, she appeared on some type of video, where she was touting her relationship with Father MC. I was very surprised. She was raving over him and his forthcoming comeback, and she didn't appear anything like the polished actress I had seen in interviews back in the day. So, the jury's still out, but I just wanted to share my thoughts. Whoever the actress is, I hope she gets help. And soon. I feel for anyone suffering with any affliction, but when you couple that with the loss of fame, but then you're still saddled with face or name recognition, that all makes seeking help that more difficult.

The best hint is that the person IS an actress. The second hint is that "This black female celebrity had so much potential until mental illness interfered with her life and career."
Had so much potential means that the person did not met their potential. Their career never took off as it may have, had their mental illness never reared its ugly head. Also, the hint about dating men, in my mind indicates that this woman was a stunner. Men flocked to her, until her mental illness (erratic behavior) turned them off.
Thandie Newton's career is going strong. She was in Beloved, Crash, had a re-occurring role on ER, etc... she has done more recent work, but I can recall the names. Just because she's more low-key than most doesn't mean her career is over.
Tempest Bledsoe had a career, as a child actress.. she just didn't have one as an adult.

Victoria Dillard has not worked in film or Tv since 2004. That Lowes commercial was in 2006. We may be on to something w/ Ms. V Dillard. Everyone else we have named on this list is either still working or married w/kids and still working in showbiz on a lowkey level.
The reasons I discount Lark Voorhies are due to her having a film coming out in 2008 and a lot of the reason that she doesn't work has to do with not wanting to do simulated sex scenes or even nudity due to her religious beliefs. She also had enough presence of mind to attempt to sue the tabloids for printing the cocaine, bipolar allegations. Think about it did Martin, Whitney or Bobby even try to sue the tabloids when they printed their dirt? They bashed them but didn't sue and now we know why, dn't we

So there was never an official decree tht said the female is an actress/singer...therefore Victoria Dillard is still in the running.

OMG. Maybe it's Cree Summers. She an actress and she has done voice overs for cartoons. But I don't know if you all remember she was best friends with Lisa Bonet and she had a CD out that was produce by Lenny Kravitz.

Tyler Collins is listed as a singer /somg writer not an actress.
Mai Campbell was a great guess because we all (or most of us have heard )about her mental issues and drug addiction,but as mentioned she has already been NOTTED,along with LisaNicole Carson, and Lauren Hill ,Nonay Gaye,among others!

I know Tyler Collins isn't listed as an actress but she had a bit part in that movie with Forrest Whitaker & Robin Givens set in the 30's (title escapes me) and she was on a couple of episodes of Fresh Prince.

Lark DOES have mental problems, no matter what she says. Just ask some of the Nurses in L.A.
Essence was introduced to a latino actor (prison break) initials R.G. by Will Smith. He left her because of her erratic behavior. I'm going with Lark because someone said she is doing a new movie and in Paris' clue she said this person still IS an actress as if to confirm that.

I seen this special on E! or one of those channels doing a special on child stars, updates on them, and stuff, and Lark was on it. She was like she's saved and the reason she wasn't in a lot of movies was because she didn't want to sacrifice her values or her faith. Apparently she's a really devout Christian (or just crazy). She's also going to be in a movie that's going to come out next year.
I always go to http://www.imdb.com/ to find out info on actors/actresses. The site gives detailed lists of celebrities' onscreen/ offscreen acting gigs including upcoming ones.

Christianity is a good cover for her bi polar, media takeout has a story on Maia Campbell being committed but I think they based the story around this blind item and at the beginning of this BI, it clearly says that it is not maia. Once again, MTO got it wrong, lol.

I think this is Lark remember she has a known history of using street drugs and most people who have mental health issues self medicate she was outted in one of those rag sheets and threatened to sue, however, she never did because they had proof of everything they said. Tempest is also a good guess because my perception of her is that she is just as weird in person as she was on the cosby show. Did you guys know that Theo is married to charmain from a different world. Thats interesting.

Let me clear this up most people who are diagnosed with a mental illness will take their medications for a short period of time and when the sympthoms cease they mistakenly believe that they "are better" and stop taking the meds then you get those who self medicate (street drugs) and usually do not get back on meds until they have a complete breakdown.

Good Afternoon ! I think Lark is a good possibility. Certainly not the only one though. On the imbd boards re: Lark ,some posters were asking back in 11/2006 if she was really mentally ill (bipolar). I remember a while back she dated Martin Lawrence but, it didn't last long. Not sure what happned with her two marriages.
As soon one else posted above she was threatening to sure the either Enquirer or Star . But, backed out of it. Early on she had alot of potential.

Did anyone say Lauryn Hill. Is she considered an actress? Wyclef and Pras both said recently that she has serious mental problems and she certainly was supposed to go on and have an illustrious career but that certainly hasn't happened. Plus the blind item says something about accusing family and friends of doing things to her. Didn't Lauryn accuse her family of taking advantage of her and wasn't speaking to them for a time. Either she moved out of her N.J. home or she put her family out. That's when she took off with her "husband" and isolated herself from everyone. Also, there was mention a while back that some of her hired help had spoken out about how weird Lauryn is and that she expected them to work extra hours but wasn't paying them properly. Maybe someone else knows more about but she might be a good guess.

Happy post Thanksgiving fellow Panachigans. Loved hangin' with the fam but I missed you guys. My guess is Victoria Dillard. I have always thought she was really beautiful but I couldn't understand why her career seemed to languish. My girl L Boogie (Laryn) is crazy but I don't think this is her. That Marley boy got her all twisted.

i heard on a radio show this AM that maia campbell has been checked into a mental hospital for schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder. although its been known for a minute that she is mentally ill this is the first i've heard it somewhere else besides the internet, which i dont trust 100%
