This black actress continues her downward spiral into severe drug addiction. First, it was the suicide attempt, the hospitalization in a mental ward and now this. Her reps manage to keep her scandals out of the press and mainstream media has no interest.
She was once offered $30,000 per week ($120,000 per month) pertaining to work but her devastating crack and meth habit prevented her from reaching this goal. On the first day, she showed up, agitated, twitching and high.
She and her male friend, who is also a crack addict spend all of their time in South Central crack houses. When they escape into the daylight, they are either trying to borrow money from family members or they're recycling cans. They both resemble walking corpses.
The male companion got "turned out" in jail and he has traded sex for rock. Our actress has also traded sexual favors for drugs, and I would imagine, some of these encounters involved unsafe sex.
Could this be the same actress Wendy Williams was talking about when she mentioned a black actress who was passed over to portray her in an upcoming biopic because of her drug addiction? Robin Givens was the second choice for the role.
Hints: This actress has "never" appeared on a television series and she is extremely popular in the black community.
This is definitely Nona Gaye and the turned out crackhead in jail is EL Debarge. Myra always post once they hit the news to let you know her stories be on the up and up. El just got arrested and he looks like a walking corpse. Sad but so so true. Why don't these stars get a backup plan for when the industy don't workout for them? Don't sell your soul to the devil for fame young people on here. Or you end up regretting it later.

Going with Nona Gaye. Was fired from Law and Ordered before she could even start. Supposedly she showed up high as hell with attitude. She has tried to commit suicide and has a long history with drugs. She would be famous to most of us or at least known because or her father.

Also Melyssa was supposedly dropped from the Movie because of the "aires" she was putting on. Acting like she was above playing this and that. When she's a video girl not to say that don't have respect for themselves. Apparently Wendy thought it was a bit much.
Nona- would have been perfect for the past .Heard a while back Wendy thought she would have been perfect to play her. Due to height and appearance etc.

Thanks for jogging my memory. I remember hearing Wendy Williams talking about why Melyssa Ford was dropped from the movie on her VH1 broadcast of her radio show.
Didn't know Nona Gaye was out there like that though. Sadness. She was good in The Matrix movies, where she took over Aaliyah's parts after Aaliyah's death.

I too think Nona Gaye and wasnt she involved with Chico Debarge at one point ,who has been to jail and I hear has or had drug habit !So sad ,they both have so much potential and looks liek shes following down same drug past as her dad during his latter years!

Hello everyone. You guys are really good! I had no clue who this actress was (or is since it's still not confirmed). If it is Nona, I really feel bad for her. She is such an attractive young lady with good potential. I truly hope it's not her. This is by far my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE website. Keep up the good work Panache!

Hello guys, but I remember Wendy mentioning that the actress to play her actually was a loving family woman. This is why the drug use shocked her. I do not believe Nona Gaye has children and honestly from looking at her I am not surprised at her behavior.

Just goes to show that sometimes geneology can play into drug addiction. Real sad though, I thought she was wonderful. I hope someone in her life can help direct her to get the help she needs.

The way her father lived his life and then the way he was killed HAD to weigh heavily on her. I wouldn't be surprised if all of that has to do with the way she is now.
I don't know if it's Geneology, but I believe that what kids see at a young age has a definite weight on what they do as an adult. She may have seen her father's way of coping as taking drunks and drinking. So know that she's an adult with a child, she wasn't strong enough to break the cycle, so now she's coping by doing drugs.
I, for one, have a father, as well as several uncles and aunts, who use to cope (and still cope) by drinking heavily; their way of escaping for a while. My father stopped cold-turkey after experiencing major health problems.
And as an adult now, I feel myself wanting a drink when I get overly stressed. This is why I limit myself to a social drink (meaning one or two glasses sipped slowly) once a month, if that...to make sure I don't end up down the road that I have seen.

I said all of that to say that I know that my urge to get that drink during stressful times is only because I saw the adults in my life using that to cope with their problems.

Its good you shared that with everyone. I used to keep a box of wine in my refrigerator to get through the rough times. One night I woke up in my drive way with the windows up and the car still on. If my friend had not called me I would be dead right now. Mind you the sun had come up and that friend was all the way on another coast. To God Be the Glory...Real Talk

I, myself, have the urge to drink/escape more often than not, but I have to stay aware of what I do because I've seen how it can end.
Some people, like Nona, obviously, have an urge that they cannot control...and once you're wrapped up in it only you can pull yourself out. And if you feel like there is no reason to pull yourself out, you end up with situations like we're talking about right here. Sad.

the actress might be Maia Campbell from In The House. She's had some problems with mental illness and drugs. She was also married with at least one child. Her mother, Bebe Moore Campbell died late last year and she wrote a book about coping with a mentally ill family member--72 Hour Hold.
